Steps
Request sandbox API credentials from Ascend and authenticate to the REST API.
Create or retrieve the Invoice resource for the policy being financed.
Create an InstallmentPlan tied to that invoice and read the generated schedule via the Installments resource.
Post a OneTimePayment or process a scheduled Installment against the plan.
Use Payouts, Refunds, or CancelationReturns to reconcile downstream money movement or a policy cancellation credit.
Known gotchas
Public docs list resource names (Invoices, InstallmentPlans, Installments, OneTimePayments, Payouts, Refunds, CancelationReturns) but full field-level schemas require a sandbox key requested from Ascend support.
BillableCancelations is marked deprecated/beta in the reference — use CancelationReturns for current integrations.
Ascend already has native connectors into some agency management systems (e.g., HawkSoft); confirm one isn't already available before building a custom integration.
