Steps
Authorize the Fulfillment Outbound API role for the seller's SP-API application
Call getFulfillmentPreview to validate item availability and compare shipping speed options before committing
Submit createFulfillmentOrder with the external order ID, destination address, requested shipping speed, and SKU/quantity line items
Poll getFulfillmentOrder or use notifications to track order status through shipment
Retrieve tracking numbers and proof-of-delivery information once the order ships
Use the return-creation operation if the buyer initiates a return against the MCF order
Known gotchas
Fulfillment previews are not a guarantee of inventory availability at request time — stock can be allocated elsewhere between preview and order creation
MCF feature availability (e.g., delivery speed options, carrier blocking features) differs by marketplace, so check the features-list operation for the target marketplace first
Sandbox testing uses Amazon's dynamic sandbox, which simulates order lifecycle events rather than hitting live fulfillment centers
