Documented steps

  1. Add --new-pid-ns to the jailer command.
  2. The jailer uses clone() with CLONE_NEWPID so the spawned Firecracker becomes init(1) of the new PID namespace.
  3. The parent writes the child's PID into a file named <exec-file-name>.pid (e.g. firecracker.pid) — find it to manage the process from outside.
  4. Combine with --daemonize to fully detach the namespaced VM from your session.
