Steps

  1. Register an application in the Motive Developer Portal and complete the OAuth 2.0 authorization flow to get a scoped access token for the fleet's account.
  2. Call the HOS/driver logs endpoints to retrieve duty status changes, available drive time, and violation flags for each driver.
  3. Call the vehicle location/telematics endpoints for current GPS position and trip history, using api.gomotive.com as the base host.
  4. Use webhook subscriptions where available to get pushed HOS or location events instead of polling, for time-sensitive dispatch use cases.
  5. Request only the OAuth scopes your integration needs (e.g., read-only HOS vs. read/write dispatch), since Motive access tokens are scope-limited per the marketplace app registration.
