Steps
Create or receive an Order via the Orders API with one or more Fulfillment objects (Pickup, Shipment, or Delivery type) attached
Set the fulfillment state as the order progresses (e.g. PROPOSED, RESERVED, PREPARED, COMPLETED) so Square KDS reflects the correct ticket stage
In the Square Dashboard, configure KDS routing under Routing > Source & fulfillment settings to control which POS/KDS devices display incoming tickets for a given source or fulfillment type
Use the Complete/recall actions on Square KDS, or corresponding fulfillment state updates via API, to move tickets through the kitchen workflow
Confirm ticket display behavior end-to-end with a test order before relying on it for live service, since KDS-specific ticket data isn't independently queryable outside the Orders API
