Steps
Install a DROP Hub on the same local network as an existing MQTT broker (e.g., the Mosquitto broker used by Home Assistant); no external cloud subscription is required for local control.
Configure the DROP Hub's MQTT broker address and port to match the local broker, per dropconnect.com/drop-home-assistant-integration.
Subscribe to DROP's MQTT topics to read device status (softener salt level, leak-sensor state, flow rate) and publish commands (e.g., shut off the main valve) for supported device types: softeners, filters, protection valves, pump controllers, RO filters, and salt sensors.
For non-Home-Assistant use, use the DROP Alexa skill instead to check usage or toggle the main water valve by voice/app.
