Verify your Wowza Streaming Engine version is 4.7.3 or later (SRT support requirement).
Perform the one-time setup: edit Server.xml, VHost.xml, and Application.xml to enable the SRT listener on a designated UDP port (Wowza's SRT listener mode docs specify the exact XML properties).
With listener mode, a single SRT port accepts multiple streams distinguished by the streamid SRT parameter — no per-stream .stream file is required.
Configure your encoder in SRT caller mode pointed at the Wowza server IP and the configured UDP port, passing the Wowza application and stream name as the streamid value.
Optionally use the Wowza Streaming Engine REST API (4.9.6+) to configure and query SRT listener settings programmatically.
Verify ingest by checking Wowza logs and the REST API stream status endpoint; then configure outgoing stream targets for HLS, DASH, or RTMP delivery.
Known gotchas
Per-user encryption with unique passphrases is available and preferred over a global passphrase for multi-tenant ingest scenarios.
SRT listener mode avoids opening multiple firewall UDP ports (one port handles all streams via streamid), unlike the legacy MediaCaster approach.
The MPEG-TS payload is required inside SRT; Wowza does not accept raw SRT streams without MPEG-TS encapsulation.
