Documented steps Show the bucket default object-lock policy: mc retention info --default ALIAS/bucket. Show the lock on the latest version of one object: mc retention info ALIAS/bucket/object.txt. Recursively list lock settings for all objects under a prefix: mc retention info --recursive ALIAS/bucket/prefix/. Inspect a specific version: mc retention info --version-id <vid> ALIAS/bucket/object.txt (requires versioning). Show lock state for all versions: mc retention info --versions ALIAS/bucket/object.txt.
Known gotchas --default overrides all other flags; it returns only the bucket default policy. --version-id is mutually exclusive with --versions, --rewind and --recursive. Object must be in a lock-enabled bucket, else the command errors. Legal hold state is separate — use mc legalhold info for that. Official docs: https://docs.min.io/aistor/reference/cli/mc-retention/
