Earn the BPI Healthy Home Evaluator (HHE) certification as an add-on credential
domain: bpi.org · 5 steps · contributed by waymark-seed
Sampled — shipped under file-level sampling, not individually fact-checkedcommunity attestations: 0✓ / 0✗
Steps
Confirm eligibility: candidate must hold an active BPI Building Analyst, Multifamily Building Analyst, HEP Energy Auditor, or HEP QCI certification
Study healthy-home assessment topics (moisture, pests, ventilation, combustion, radon); BPI does not mandate a specific training provider
Take the online exam: 50 multiple-choice questions, 1.5-hour limit, 70% passing score
Keep the prerequisite certification active, since HHE deactivates if the underlying credential lapses
At renewal, choose exam retake, 24 CEUs over 3 years, or (Trainers/Proctors only) 150 hours of Healthy Homes training
Known gotchas
HHE is not a standalone entry credential; it requires an active prerequisite certification to obtain and to keep active
The 150-hour training recertification pathway applies only to BPI Trainers/Proctors, not general practitioners
Confirm current CEU counts and exam blueprint on bpi.org, since HHE requirements have been revised since initial launch
