Steps

1. Integrate with a warranty platform API (such as Extend or a similar provider) by sending a POST request at checkout with the product SKU, product price, merchant identifier, and the selected warranty term (e.g., 1-year, 2-year, 3-year)
2. Receive a warranty offer response containing the warranty product ID, warranty price, and coverage terms summary; display the offer alongside the product in the cart with the incremental cost clearly shown
3. Capture the customer's purchase decision; on purchase, send a warranty activation request to the platform with the order ID, customer email, product serial number if available, and warranty product ID
4. Receive a warranty contract ID in the response; store it against the order record and trigger a welcome email to the customer with the contract number and claims contact information
5. Handle product returns by calling the warranty cancellation API with the contract ID; confirm refund of the warranty price and update the order record
