Steps
Select a curing method appropriate to the finish and follow-on work: curing compounds for slabs going straight to service, or wet curing/curing paper where a compound would interfere with later adhesives or coatings, per general ACI 308 practice.
If the slab will later be polished or receive a coating or adhesive, confirm the specific curing compound is compatible with -- or will be fully removed before -- polishing, densifying, or coating, since some compounds interfere with penetrating densifiers and adhesives.
Set curing duration based on the specified mix's strength-gain requirements and ambient conditions rather than a fixed generic number of days applied to every mix.
Protect the slab from rapid moisture loss (wind, sun, low humidity) immediately after finishing, before the curing method is even applied, to prevent plastic shrinkage cracking.
Document the curing method used on each pour for later reference if moisture-related floor-covering or polishing problems arise.
Known gotchas
A dissipating curing compound is not guaranteed compatible with every polishing or adhesive system -- confirm compatibility with both the compound manufacturer and the polishing/flooring installer, not just the concrete supplier.
