Steps
Install the Windows-only Expedition application, noting there is no REST API since it is a licensed desktop program
Wire instrument data in via NMEA 0183 (serial or TCP, commonly port 10110) or NMEA 2000 through a gateway, using Expedition's natively supported vendor-specific links where available
Import or build a polar performance file in the widely-adopted Expedition/Deckman .pol text format, with true-wind-speed rows of strictly increasing TWA-boatspeed pairs
Pull weather via Expedition's built-in GRIB client, which supports GRIB 1/2 and NetCDF from integrated model servers or Saildocs/Squid email-based requests
Run weather routing using the imported polar plus GRIB data across the available routing algorithms and isochrone/ensemble options
Log race or passage data internally for later replay, instrument calibration analysis, or polar refinement
Known gotchas
Polar files are strict about TWA ordering; a file with non-increasing TWA values per TWS row is rejected with an explicit error even if otherwise valid
A polar built for performance analysis is not automatically fit for routing use; gridded GRIB wind at a different reference height than the polar's basis can require rescaling before routing results are trustworthy
There is no public REST/HTTP API; all integration is either real instrument protocols (NMEA 0183/2000 or vendor-proprietary buses) or file-based import/export (GRIB, polar, GPX)
