Documented steps

  1. E2B disabled access-token authentication (the E2B_ACCESS_TOKEN env var) on Aug 1, 2026; API-key auth is now the only supported path.
  2. Get an API key from the E2B dashboard keys tab; the same key the SDKs use, scoped to a project.
  3. Wherever you run the E2B CLI (CI/CD, containers, servers, scripts), replace the E2B_ACCESS_TOKEN env var with E2B_API_KEY and delete the token line.
  4. Upgrade the CLI to v2.12.1 or later (latest recommended) so it authenticates with the API key alone.
  5. With E2B_API_KEY set, run CLI commands directly - you do not need to run 'e2b auth login'; the API key already targets the right project.
  6. If using the V1 template build system (which authenticated with the now-disabled access token), migrate to the V2 build system which uses E2B_API_KEY.
