Steps

  1. Install PotreeConverter (2.0+ recommended for speed and reduced output file count)
  2. Run PotreeConverter against your source LAS/LAZ file(s), specifying an output directory
  3. Confirm the converter produced the compact PotreeConverter 2.0 output (a handful of files) rather than the older 1.7-style output (thousands to millions of files)
  4. Deploy the output directory plus the Potree viewer HTML/JS assets to a web server — Potree cannot load point cloud files directly from the local filesystem
  5. Load the resulting metadata.json in the Potree Viewer to confirm rendering and level-of-detail streaming work as expected
