Steps
Review New Relic's End of Life announcement for the Drop Filter Rules API, originally published with a June 30, 2026 shutoff date.
Check New Relic's Pipeline Cloud Rules Terraform migration guide, which states this EOL date was subsequently extended to August 31, 2026 to reduce migration disruption.
Do not manually recreate existing rules — New Relic automatically migrates existing NRQL drop filter rules to Pipeline cloud rules.
Confirm the account has the entitlement (Advanced Compute add-on / New Relic Compute usage-based pricing) needed to keep using drop/cloud rules past the EOL date.
If managing rules with Terraform, move from the newrelic_nrql_drop_rule resource to the newer newrelic_pipeline_cloud_rule resource ahead of the deadline.
Known gotchas
Treat the exact EOL date as a moving target — New Relic already pushed it once (from June 30, 2026 to August 31, 2026); re-check the current EOL page before hardcoding a date into automation or reminders.
After the EOL date, calls to the old NRQL Drop Filter Rules API fail outright (no create or delete) — only the Pipeline cloud rules API or Pipeline Control UI can manage drop rules from that point on.
