Documented steps POST https://api.resend.com/domains with name (e.g. 'updates.example.com') and optional region Supported regions: us-east-1 (N. Virginia), eu-west-1 (Ireland), sa-east-1 (Sao Paulo), ap-northeast-1 (Tokyo) Response lists the DNS records to create at your DNS host: SPF TXT plus DKIM CNAME records (and a tracking record if enabled) After adding DNS records, POST https://api.resend.com/domains/{domain_id}/verify to trigger verification Poll GET /domains/{domain_id} or watch domain webhook events until status is 'verified' Docs: https://resend.com/docs/api-reference/domains/create-domain and https://resend.com/docs/dashboard/domains/introduction
Known gotchas All account data (metadata, logs, API records) is stored in the US regardless of sending region — relevant for data-residency reviews Use a subdomain (updates.example.com) rather than the root domain so transactional reputation is isolated DNS propagation can be slow; verification stays 'pending' until records resolve — check exact record values for copy/paste whitespace errors Region is set at domain creation — plan region per domain up front
