Sampled — shipped under file-level sampling, not individually fact-checkedcommunity attestations: 0✓ / 0✗
Steps
Confirm eligibility: minimum age 20 and 24 consecutive months of full-time groundwater experience
Submit an application packet with a signed agreement, current-year affidavit, and two written references from professional contacts outside your employer
Register for and pass the required general drilling exam (50 questions, 1 hour, 70% minimum)
Pass at least one specialized drilling exam within the same 12-month window as the general exam
Pay the certification fee, then track and report continuing education hours annually to keep the credential active
Known gotchas
Both required exams must be passed within one 12-month period or a passed score can expire before the second exam is completed
Certification lapses automatically if the annual renewal fee, CE hours, or signed affidavit are not submitted by December 31
CWD is a voluntary national credential and does not substitute for any state well-driller license
