Set up an AIS receiving station and start contributing at least one raw NMEA AIS feed to AISHub
Meet AISHub's contributor bar (coverage of roughly 10+ vessels averaged over 7 days, ~90% uptime averaged over 7 days) before applying for API access
Email AISHub to request an API username/key once your station qualifies
Call the webservice endpoint (data.aishub.net/ws.php) with your credentials, requesting XML, JSON, or CSV output
Poll no more than once per minute
Known gotchas
Feed access is contribution-based - you must operate a physical AIS receiver and share its data, it is not a simple paid signup
Exceeding the one-request-per-minute limit silently returns nothing rather than an error
Coverage near your marina depends on the density of other members' receivers, not just your own station
