Documented steps
Authenticate first (fly auth login, or pass -t <access token>).
Run `fly apps create <app-name>` to register a new app on the Fly platform. Use --generate-name to have Fly pick a unique name.
Optionally pass -o <org> to target a specific Fly organization, and --save to record the app name in the config file.
Note this command does NOT generate a fly.toml; fetch a starter config with `fly config save -a <app>` or use `fly launch` instead of apps create when you want a full bootstrap.
Verify with `fly apps list` / `fly status -a <app>`.
Known gotchas
apps create only registers the app; nothing is deployed or configured until you add fly.toml and deploy.
App names are globally unique across Fly — pick a distinctive name or use --generate-name.
Requires authentication; with no org flag it uses your default personal org.
If you just want a bootstrapped app with config, `fly launch` is the higher-level command.
