Determine how Colorado regulates conveyances statewide through the Division of Oil and Public Safety (OPS) Conveyance Program, including licensing of mechanics and inspectors

Steps
Start at ops.colorado.gov/Conveyances for program scope: all elevators, escalators, wheelchair lifts, and other regulated conveyances statewide must be registered with OPS
Use the 'Database & Online Services' link under Conveyances for registration/record lookups (the database was described by OPS as still in transition, so expect possible data gaps)
For mechanic or inspector licensing, note OPS requires its own license for anyone erecting, altering, maintaining, or dismantling a conveyance in Colorado — check current licensed-inspector lists published as PDFs on the OPS site rather than assuming a live search API
Confirm whether the specific municipality has been delegated authority as its own AHJ (Colorado allows OPS to delegate to municipalities/counties with an equal-or-stricter program) — if so, route the lookup to that local authority instead of OPS
For accidents or dangerous-conveyance reports, use OPS's published accident-reporting and shutdown-request contacts rather than a self-service form
Known gotchas
OPS explicitly flagged its conveyance database as being in transition — verify any surprising or missing record with OPS staff before treating an absence as authoritative
Denver and other home-rule cities may run their own delegated conveyance program (see Denver Fire Department's Conveyance Program) — a Colorado statewide OPS search will not reflect Denver's local permits
Licensed-inspector and mechanic lists are static PDFs published by OPS, not a queryable directory, so they can be out of date between publication cycles
