Steps
Enable Third-party Circulation in WorldShare Admin and register the third-party system as an NCIP partner
Configure the NCIP responder endpoint URL and agency/application profile that the third-party system will call
Map borrower identifiers so LookupUser requests from the third party resolve to real WMS patron records
Exchange NCIP messages (LookupUser, RequestItem, CheckOutItem, CheckInItem) to drive circulation transactions from the external system
Known gotchas
Third-party Circulation (NCIP) is a separate WorldShare feature from WorldShare Circulation integration for ILL — configuring one does not enable the other
NCIP profile support varies by vendor; confirm which message set the third-party system implements before go-live
