Steps

  1. Call the eCFR API titles endpoint documented at ecfr.gov/reader-aids/ecfr-developer-resources/understanding-ecfr-dates
  2. Read the three date fields returned per title: latest_amended_on, latest_issue_date, and up_to_date_as_of
  3. Compare up_to_date_as_of against the date your cached or local copy was captured to determine whether amendments have since been published
  4. If latest_amended_on is more recent than your cached copy, re-pull the affected part or section via the 'full' endpoint before using it
