Steps
Visit recfin.org and open the PacFIN/RecFIN QueryBuilder application shared between the two networks.
Choose the target dataset (catch estimates, effort estimates, or trip/angler-level sample data) and set filters for state (CA/OR/WA), species, mode, and time period.
Run the query to retrieve point estimates and, where available, variance estimates for catch/effort.
For very large extracts, use the Large Data Export (LDE) feature designed for bulk non-aggregated data pulls rather than the standard query screen.
Save frequently-used queries so they can be rerun or shared with other data users on subsequent visits.
Known gotchas
RecFIN blends multiple state and federal sampling programs with different sampling designs, so estimates should be interpreted with their documented variance, not treated as exact counts.
There is no public REST API; the QueryBuilder is the supported access path, and non-aggregated raw data access is still being expanded, so detailed data may require a direct data request.
