Go to MPI's own Approved Products List database at mpi.net/apl rather than relying on a manufacturer's self-reported 'MPI approved' claim
Identify the correct MPI category number (there are over 100 MPI performance-standard categories split by exterior/interior, water-based/solvent-based, and primer/topcoat) for the specific product type before searching, since listings are organized by category, not just by product name
Search or filter by manufacturer, category, or MPI# to confirm the specific product/formulation (not just the product line) appears in the current listing
Note that the APL is updated on a rolling/monthly basis, so a product's listing status should be re-checked close to time of specification or submittal rather than relying on an older printout
If LEED, VOC, or other regulatory attributes are relevant, use the APL's filtering options for those attributes rather than assuming MPI approval alone implies a specific VOC compliance level
