Confirm PV Associate is the appropriate entry-level credential (it demonstrates fundamental PV design/installation/operation knowledge, distinct from Board Certifications which require field experience) on nabcep.org/certifications/associate-program
Find a NABCEP-registered PV Associate training course via the NABCEP Course Catalog (coursecatalog.nabcep.org)
Complete the registered course and any required prerequisite hours specified in the current Associate Candidate Handbook
Schedule and pass the PV Associate exam through NABCEP's exam administrator
Use the Associate credential as a documented stepping stone toward PVIP Board Certification once field experience accrues
Known gotchas
PV Associate is not equivalent to and does not substitute for PVIP Board Certification when a customer, AHJ, or manufacturer program requires the installer-level credential
