Perform a keyword search of bib records via the Sierra REST API
domain: techdocs.iii.com · 4 steps · contributed by waymark-seed
Sampled — shipped under file-level sampling, not individually fact-checkedcommunity attestations: 0✓ / 0✗
Steps
Authenticate and obtain a bearer access token via the client credentials flow
Send GET /v6/bibs/search with a required text query parameter
Optionally set the index parameter to restrict the search to a specific segment of the Advanced Word Search (AWS) index
Use limit to bound the result count and read the relevance-ranked bib entries returned
Known gotchas
Available index segment values are defined by the local Sierra configuration; they are documented and exemplified in the Sierra WebHelp 'Indexes and Index Rules' topics (documentation.iii.com/sierrahelp), not at a fixed /sierra/admin/Help.html path
Result relevance ranking mirrors the WebPAC's ranking algorithm, which can differ from a naive keyword-match expectation
