Confirm your organization has an active Black Book data license, since Developer Portal access is provisioned to existing Black Book customers, not open signups.
Log into the Developer Portal and use the built-in Test Harness to make live API calls and inspect responses before writing integration code.
Call the Used Car Web API with a VIN or vehicle description to get a base Black Book value.
For condition-adjusted pricing, use the Custom Trade Value API and pass answers to Black Book's condition questions (mileage, mechanical/cosmetic condition, etc.) to get a single adjusted value rather than a flat book value.
Configure IP allowlisting, credentials, and authorized domain names in the portal's security settings before moving from the Test Harness to production traffic.
Known gotchas
API access is bundled with a Black Book data license — there's no way to get valuations through the Developer Portal without an underlying commercial contract.
