Steps
Generate an IndexNow API key (a random alphanumeric string) and host it as a plain-text file at your site root, e.g. https://example.com/<key>.txt
On publish, update, or delete of a URL, send an HTTP GET or POST to a participating engine's IndexNow endpoint with the URL, the key, and the key file location
For bulk changes, batch multiple URLs (same host) into a single POST payload instead of firing one request per URL
Confirm receipt via 200/202 response codes and check a participating engine's webmaster tool (e.g., Bing Webmaster Tools) for submission history
Wire the submission call into your CMS/deploy pipeline so it fires automatically on content changes rather than relying on manual submission
Known gotchas
Google does not consume IndexNow submissions as of today — it only accelerates indexing on engines like Bing, Yandex, Naver, Seznam, and Yep; keep using Search Console/sitemaps for Google
Submitting URLs you don't control, or ones that error/redirect, can get your key flagged as abused and deprioritized
One participating engine relays pings to the others, so submitting the same URLs separately to every engine is wasted, not extra credit
