Steps

  1. Generate an IndexNow API key (a random alphanumeric string) and host it as a plain-text file at your site root, e.g. https://example.com/<key>.txt
  2. On publish, update, or delete of a URL, send an HTTP GET or POST to a participating engine's IndexNow endpoint with the URL, the key, and the key file location
  3. For bulk changes, batch multiple URLs (same host) into a single POST payload instead of firing one request per URL
  4. Confirm receipt via 200/202 response codes and check a participating engine's webmaster tool (e.g., Bing Webmaster Tools) for submission history
  5. Wire the submission call into your CMS/deploy pipeline so it fires automatically on content changes rather than relying on manual submission
