Steps

  1. Classify each identified hazard by severity using your organization's or jurisdiction's defined classification scheme (commonly grouped into critical/immediate-risk, high, and moderate tiers).
  2. For critical/immediate hazards (e.g., entrapment, major structural failure), remove the equipment from service or restrict access immediately rather than waiting for a scheduled repair cycle.

  4. For lower-severity/moderate hazards, schedule repair within a longer defined window rather than leaving them undocumented or indefinitely deferred.
  5. Document the classification, action taken, and completion date for every hazard, regardless of severity tier.
