Steps

  1. Call GET https://vpic.nhtsa.dot.gov/api/vehicles/GetEquipmentPlantCodes?year={YYYY}&equipmentType=13&reportType={New|Updated|Closed|All}&format=json — equipmentType 13 is 'Glazing' in vPIC's Equipment Type list (others are 1=Tires, 3=Brake Hoses, 16=Retread).
  2. Set reportType=All to retrieve every glazing plant regardless of year or active status, or use New/Updated/Closed to see plant-code activity for a given year.
  3. Only model years 2016 and later are supported by this endpoint.
  4. Cross-reference a returned plant code against the DOT code stamped on a windshield or side-glass panel to confirm the equipment plant of origin.
