Set up a manufacturer certified-installer system warranty program correctly

Steps

1. Confirm your firm holds (or can obtain) the manufacturer's installer accreditation required for the warranty tier you want to offer — e.g., Panduit's Certification Plus program requires an accredited partner with trained technicians and an RCDD (or manufacturer-approved equivalent) on staff.
2. Use only that manufacturer's branded (or explicitly approved third-party) cable and connectivity components throughout the system — mixing in non-approved components is a common way warranties get voided.
3. Certification-test every link to the performance standard the warranty program requires, and retain the full test-report set as part of the warranty registration package.
4. Submit the formal warranty registration to the manufacturer within their required window after project completion, including as-built documentation and test reports.
5. Understand what the warranty actually covers before promising it to the customer — programs commonly offer 15/20/25-year tiers, and some (e.g., certain Belden/CommScope tiers) add labor coverage for corrective action beyond straight product/performance coverage.
