Steps
Enable the REST Data Server under Configuration > Servers in the Intelligence Hub application settings
Choose Bearer token or OAuth2.0 password-grant authentication for the service, as documented in the REST Connector authentication article
Query the automatically-created endpoints for Connection Inputs, Outputs, Models, and Instances to pull contextualized OT data without needing to know the underlying source protocol
Inspect returned instance data to confirm it reflects the modeled (contextualized) representation rather than raw tag values
Monitor the Replay log, where REST Data Server calls are recorded under the "RestDataServer" trigger type, for troubleshooting
Known gotchas
The REST Data, MCP, and i3X servers all require bearer token auth by default and must be explicitly enabled — they are not on by default
Predefined Model/Instance endpoints only expose data that has been modeled in the Hub; unmapped OT data must first pass through a configured pipeline
