Steps

  1. Create or select a Google Cloud project with billing enabled and enable the BigQuery API and BigQuery Storage API
  2. In Search Console's Bulk data export setup screen, copy the Search Console export service account it shows you and grant it the BigQuery Job User and BigQuery Data Editor roles on the target project
  3. In Search Console Settings, open Bulk data export, enter the Cloud project ID and choose a dataset location, then save
  4. Wait up to 48 hours for the first export to run, then confirm the searchdata_site_impression, searchdata_url_impression, and ExportLog tables appear in the dataset
  5. Query the tables in BigQuery (partitioned by data_date) to build historical trend reports beyond the ~16-month UI/API retention window
  6. Monitor BigQuery storage/query costs once usage exceeds the free tier
