Steps
Go to miamidade.gov/building/pc-search_app.asp, the county's official Product Control Search application
Search by NOA number if you have it from a product label or contractor quote, or search by manufacturer/product name/category to find current approvals
Open the matching record and confirm the NOA's expiration date and scope (what assemblies/systems and wind-load ratings it covers) since NOAs are time-limited and renewed periodically
Cross-check the product description and installation parameters listed on the NOA against what's actually specified for the job, not just the presence of a valid-looking number
For background on how NOAs fit into the overall approval system, review the Product Approval overview at miamidade.gov/global/economy/board-and-code/product-approval.page
If a product isn't found under Miami-Dade, check whether it instead carries a statewide Florida Product Approval (a separate system — see the companion route) rather than assuming it lacks approval
Known gotchas
An NOA is Miami-Dade/Broward-specific (High-Velocity Hurricane Zone) approval — it is not the same as, and does not substitute for, a statewide Florida Product Approval; some manufacturers hold one but not the other
NOAs expire and are periodically reissued/renewed — verify the current expiration date on the county's search tool rather than trusting an NOA number printed on older packaging or a dated cut sheet
The search tool's URL and interface (pc-search_app.asp) is a legacy county web application, not a modern REST API — there is no documented JSON/CSV bulk endpoint for this dataset
