Documented steps

  1. Define preversion, version, and postversion scripts to hook the version bump.
  2. npm version runs preversion -> version -> postversion; the version script runs after the version number is written but before any git commit/tag.
  3. Use postversion for steps after the bump and git tag, such as pushing tags.
