Steps

  1. In the Smartcar Dashboard, add a simulated vehicle by selecting a make/model/year or entering a US VIN
  2. Copy the simulated vehicle's generated credentials from the dashboard
  3. Launch Smartcar Connect with mode=simulated in the Connect URL so the flow authenticates against the simulated vehicle instead of a live OEM login
  4. Complete the Connect flow and exchange the authorization code for an access token exactly as you would for a production vehicle
  5. Call standard endpoints (odometer, fuel/battery, location) against the simulated vehicle and confirm your app handles both supported and unsupported-endpoint error responses
  6. Adjust simulated trip/state data in the dashboard to exercise edge cases (low battery, plugged-in charging) before going live
