Steps
Record and upload the source video as a Zoom cloud recording first — simulive plays back an existing cloud recording rather than a separate upload flow.
Create the webinar via POST /users/{userId}/webinars, then configure simulive_settings to point at the cloud recording to be played back.
Verify is_simulive is actually reflected as true on the webinar resource after creation, since it has been reported to return false even after simulive_settings were submitted.
Keep a host/producer present during the live send to run chat and Q&A in real time even though the video itself is pre-recorded.
For a recurring cadence of simulive sessions, pair simulive_settings with the webinar's recurrence configuration rather than recreating the webinar for each airing.
Known gotchas
There are developer reports of is_simulive silently failing to be set even when simulive_settings is included in the create/update payload — verify with a follow-up GET before assuming simulive mode is active.
Simulive still requires a live host/producer for chat and Q&A; it is not a fully unattended "set and forget" webinar despite the pre-recorded video.
