Steps
Choose the Standard channel tier, which is required to include live sources; the Basic tier supports VOD-only Linear/Loop channels.
Create one or more VOD sources and/or live sources under a source location pointing at your origin content.
Create a channel in Channel Assembly, selecting Linear playback mode and referencing the source location.
Build a program schedule by adding programs that reference the VOD or live sources in the desired order and timing.
Retrieve the channel's playback URL (HLS or DASH) and front it with a CDN for distribution to viewers.
Known gotchas
Channel Assembly is manifest-only; MediaTailor never touches or restamps media segments, so origin availability and segment alignment remain the caller's responsibility.
Live sources require the Standard tier and Linear playback mode; adding a live source to a Basic-tier or Loop-mode channel is not supported.
Because the service only assembles manifests referencing your origin, a CDN in front of the origin is expected for real-world scale.
