Steps

  1. Call the delineation service at streamstats.usgs.gov/streamstatsservices/watershed.geojson?rcode={state}&xlocation={lon}&ylocation={lat}&crs=4326&includeparameters=true to delineate the watershed for the point.
  2. Read the returned GeoJSON workspaceID and basin characteristics (drainage area, slope, land cover) from the response.
  3. Call the flow-statistics scenario service with the same workspaceID to retrieve regional regression flow estimates for the delineated basin.
  4. Use drainage area and slope characteristics to flag high-runoff sites that may need enhanced septic system design (e.g. mound systems).
