Steps
Request a free WSDOT Traveler Information API access code by submitting an email address through the WSDOT Traffic API portal.
Call the CVRestrictionData REST endpoint with the access code to retrieve current commercial-vehicle bridge weight/height and seasonal load restrictions, filtered by route.
Cross-reference the returned restriction records against the crane transport's planned route, travel height, and axle weights.
Call the HighwayAlerts endpoint for the same corridor to check for active construction or lane closures that could affect the move window.
Re-pull both endpoints close to the move date, since restrictions and alerts change as conditions on the ground change.
Known gotchas
The access code is tied to a single email address and rate-limited; it is not intended for high-frequency interactive polling.
CVRestrictionData reflects WSDOT-known state-route restrictions only — county and city road authorities maintain separate restriction lists not included in this feed.
