Steps

  1. Open the Fisheries One Stop Shop (FOSS) foreign trade query tool at fisheries.noaa.gov/foss.
  2. Select query parameters: product/HTS code, trading partner country, U.S. customs district, trade type (import/export), and year/month range.
  3. Run the summary query to get weight (metric tons) and value (USD) aggregated by the selected dimensions.
  4. Export results to CSV for downstream analysis; note data ultimately originates from Census Bureau/CBP foreign trade statistics and is released roughly 43 days after the close of the statistical month.
  5. Cross-reference the standalone Seafood Import & Export Tool if determining which NOAA trade-monitoring program (e.g., SIMP) an import must comply with.
