Steps

  1. Remove pumping equipment and obstructions, then measure and record actual well depth
  2. Disinfect the well before sealing if it was previously in use
  3. Fill the well from the bottom up using an approved method (pressure grouting, or pouring coarse bentonite from the required minimum depth to the surface)
  4. Cut and remove casing to at or below the state-required depth below grade
  5. File the required well-sealing/decommissioning report with the state agency
