Steps Authenticate the same way as GET calls (TreePlotter Basic Auth plus apiKey query parameter) over HTTPS only. Build a JSON body matching the field schema returned by the metadata endpoint (backend field names, not UI labels). POST to https://pg-cloud.com/api/<folder>/<layer_path> to add the feature; point-type assets like trees require latitude and longitude in the body. For work-record POSTs (inspections/service records) instead of trees, include the target asset_id and layer_name rather than coordinates. Confirm success via the returned GeoJSON/confirmation payload and capture the new feature's Primary ID (PID) for later updates.
Known gotchas POST bodies must use the backend field names from the metadata call — posting UI-labeled field names fails without a clear validation error. URLs are strictly case-sensitive and must be lowercase, even though JSON field values are not. The API only returns JSON; any downstream system expecting shapefiles or another format needs its own transform step.
