Steps

  1. Submit the Interconnection Application, Agreement & Authorization form, and application fee (PG&E currently charges $145) through the utility's online portal — for PG&E this is the 'Your Projects' portal (yourprojects-pge.com)
  2. Expect the utility's interconnection team to respond within about 10 business days — either advancing the project or issuing a deficiency notice requiring corrections
  3. Address any deficiency notice promptly and resubmit through the same portal rather than starting a new application, to avoid losing queue position
  4. Once approved, complete the required electrical inspection/final clearance steps before requesting Permission to Operate
  5. For SCE projects, follow the parallel Rule 21 process through SCE's own portal — the sequence (application, fee, review, deficiency-or-advance, inspection, PTO) mirrors PG&E's but is tracked in a separate system
  6. Check whether the project needs to reference current Net Billing Tariff interconnection rules, since the NEM 2.0 legacy pathway closed April 14-15, 2026
