Steps
Declare xmlns:podcast="https://podcastindex.org/namespace/1.0" on the <rss> root element.
Insert one or more <podcast:soundbite> elements as children of the episode's <item>.
Set the required startTime attribute (seconds into the episode where the clip begins).
Set the required duration attribute (seconds long); recommended between 15 and 120 seconds.
Optionally supply node text as a soundbite title; if left blank, apps may substitute the episode title or a placeholder.
The soundbite is assumed to reuse the audio/video already given in that item's <enclosure> — no separate media file is referenced.
Known gotchas
startTime and duration are both required; the tag is invalid without either.
Multiple <podcast:soundbite> tags per item are allowed, but per podcasting2.org's own feature-support tracker only a handful of apps currently render them.
Node value has a 128-character recommendation before aggregators may truncate it.
