Confirm NEC 625.42(A)/(B) permits sizing the service/feeder to the ALMS-controlled maximum rather than the sum of all EVSE nameplate ratings
Select a panel/EVEMS product with third-party safety certification — UL 3141 (Power Control Systems) is referenced for 2026 NEC load-management provisions; SPAN and Lumin smart panels both hold UL 3141 certification
Check for the emerging CSA/ANSI C22.2 No. 343 EVEMS product standard; a dedicated EVEMS certification standard was still newly emerging as of 2025-2026, so don't assume every "EVEMS" product on the market is certified to it yet
Document the ALMS control logic and never-exceed limit in the electrical plan submitted to the AHJ, since inspectors are increasingly asking for this under 625.42
Known gotchas
UL 3141 certification applies to the panel; it doesn't automatically certify the whole EVEMS system to the newer CSA C22.2 No. 343 EVEMS standard — check which one the AHJ/utility is actually asking for
Confirm which NEC edition (2023 vs 2026) is in force locally, since ALMS load-management language differs by code cycle
