Steps
Provision a device via Pretix's device authentication flow, or use an organizer API token for server-side redemption
Retrieve the relevant check-in list for the event
POST to the check-in redemption endpoint with the ticket's secret/code to mark it as redeemed
Handle the response codes distinguishing a valid first scan from an already-redeemed or invalid ticket
Support offline queuing on the device and replay redemptions once connectivity is restored
Known gotchas
Pretix separates device auth (for check-in apps/hardware scanners) from organizer API tokens — use device auth for kiosk/scanner deployments rather than embedding a full-privilege organizer token on a device
Redemption is idempotent per ticket secret but the API will report a duplicate-scan status rather than silently succeeding twice — surface that to check-in staff
