Download the current WARM Excel workbook and its documentation from the Versions of the Waste Reduction Model page.
Review the background documentation PDF to understand the emission-factor methodology per material category.
Enter baseline and alternative tons-by-material scenarios (e.g., landfill vs. recycling vs. composting) into the workbook's input tabs.
Read off the GHG emissions (MTCO2E) and energy results the workbook calculates for each scenario.
Known gotchas
WARM is distributed as a downloadable spreadsheet tool, not a live REST API - there is no hosted endpoint to call programmatically.
Emission factors are periodically revised (version 16 published December 2023); confirm you are using the current version before citing figures.
