Retrieve a full record detail from the EBSCO EDS API
domain: developer.ebsco.com · 4 steps · contributed by waymark-seed
Sampled — shipped under file-level sampling, not individually fact-checkedcommunity attestations: 0✓ / 0✗
Steps
Obtain the record's DbId and An (accession number) identifiers from a prior search result
Call /edsapi/rest/retrieve with the active session token header and the DbId/An parameters
Parse the returned record detail including abstract, subjects, and full-text links
Pass HighlightTerms parameters if search-term highlighting within the record is needed
Known gotchas
Full-text availability in the retrieved record depends on the institution's link resolver and database licensing, not merely on the API call succeeding
Record retrieval requires the same session token used for search; a stale or expired token returns an authentication error instead of the record
