Configure your Adyen account to support the currencies you intend to present to cardholders and set the settlement currency for each merchant account
When a cardholder's card is identified as foreign, use the Adyen DCC API to request a conversion quote providing the transaction amount in your presentment currency
Present the DCC offer to the cardholder clearly showing the rate, the converted amount, and any margin disclosure required by card network rules
If the cardholder accepts DCC, include the dcc field in the payment request with the quoted rate and converted amount
If the cardholder declines, process in the transaction currency without DCC and log the declination for reporting
Reconcile DCC revenue separately in settlement reports, as DCC margin appears as a distinct line item
Known gotchas
Card networks require explicit cardholder consent for DCC; presenting DCC without a clear opt-out violates scheme rules and can result in fines
DCC must not be applied to debit cards in many jurisdictions; check Adyen's DCC eligibility matrix for the specific card type before offering conversion
The DCC rate quote has a short validity window; if the payment session is abandoned and restarted, you must request a fresh quote rather than reusing the cached one
